  1. Hey all, I tried importing a mpg file that I have previously edited with mpeg2vcr and it wont' open. The error it gives is "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shutdown. We will attempt to save your current project." The title of the error message says "Audio Conforming Error." I've tried opening an mpg that just came from the ATI TV recorder and it says "Disk read or access error." with the same title error of "Audio Conforming Error." If I try to open the files in Adobe AfterEffects and I get the same message.

It seems that this error for me only happens in mpg files because I can open every other type of file. Can anyone explain this to me? No info on the Adobe website. Thanks.

  3. It's Adobe Premier Pro, on the website it says that it supports mpeg 2 and all mpeg files associated with it, you can even export.

  4. Hello

While I am not familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro. I have been using Adobe Premiere 6.0. Adobe Premiere 6.0 will not accept *.mpg files.

Adboe works with an "muxed" mpeg2 files; in other words, an mepeg file that generates a separate video and audio file; ex: *.m2p and *.wav.

Prior solutions discussed on this board has been to download a freeware version of TMPGEncoder to "transcode" your file into two streams that can then be imported into Adobe Premiere.

Unfortunately, transcoding also involves re-encoding. This will slightly degrade the quality of the mpeg2 file. This is the primary reason why many who edit import the video as an avi file and then encode the resulting file as an mpeg2.

If you do not want to import as *.avi, edit, and then encode as an mpeg2 file, you may want to look into a capture board that captures mpeg2 in real time and allows editing with out re-encoding. To obtain quality results, expect to pay about $1500 for the capture board and the software.

Pinnacle discontinued the DC1000 & DC2000 capture boards that offered broadcast quality real time mpeg encoding and real time editiing with no re-encode. The only portions that are re-encoded are special effects which are not part of the Pinnacle Real Time effects. To achieve this, Pinnacle created an editiable *mp2 format that creates a video with the *mp2 extension and an audio *.wav file. Ebay, about two months ago, had a DC 2000 that went used for $500. This board will not work with Adobe Premiere Pro. There are real time broadcast quality cards that work with "Pro." If you contact Adobe, they will tell you which card(s) will work.

    Regards

    John

  5. Well I just wanted to follow up with everyone. Pro does import mpeg, mpg or any other kind of file associated with it. It also exports that way. Anyhoo, my problem was "claud.ax", a file that PowerDVD installs that interferes with Pro's importing of mpeg files. So I fixed it. Thanks for your input tho.
