  1. Hi There...

I'm trying to put several VCD mpgs onto a DVD, all TV episodes around 40 minutes in length. I'd like to fit 8 onto each DVD.

I've tried various methods using TMPGEnc, TMPGEncPlus and TMPGEnc DVD Author, but whether I re-encode the video files, or just leave the author to re-encode the audio, I always get the same problem - after a while, the audio ends up out of sync completely.

I've tried separating the audio and video streams, then converting the audio to a DVD compliant one using SVCD2DVDMPG, but I experience the same sync problems.

The video files are all NTSC - ideally I'd like to author a PAL DVD, as my own player doesn't output NTSC to PAL. I'd like to be able to transfer the contents of the DVD to VHS, you see.

All of my current attempts have been in just creating an NTSC DVD though, so my audio problems aren't a result of changing NTSC to PAL.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

    What framerate are the VCD's

VCD supports 23.976fps (NTSCfilm) and 29.976fps (and 25fps for PAL).

DVD only supports 29.976fps, so if your VCD's are NTSCfilm, you have to re-encode the video. In that case you might as well go straight to PAL

  3. Hi There...

My VCD files all show as 29.970fps, 352x240 in AVIcodec.

I'll just be glad to get anything working on a DVD! I've still had no success whatsoever!

  5. Hi There...

I do re-encode the audio, but I still have the sync problems.

Can anyone suggest a method for me that works? At the minute, I'm converting to PAL then putting them onto VCDs. This works perfectly, without a single sync problem. The problem arises when I try to put the original MPGs onto DVD - no method I've used has been successful at all.

I had the same problems making vcd`s dvd compliant when re-encoding the audio to 48 khz and i found that goldwave fixed the problem for me,i just open the mp2 with goldwave and then resample to 48khz and save as wave and then use besweet to encode the wave to mp2.Using besweet to resample produced sync problems for me but using goldwave kept the audio in sync. The alternative is a painful method and that is to stretch or shrink the audio length to match the video by how many seconds that need to be adjusted.
