  1. I have tried EVERYTHING. I've ripped my matrix reloaded dvd and when i reburn it, the subtitles come on automatically every time. I've thoroughly searched these and doom9 forums and found a couple things to do, but do not work (adding precommands and every possible variation they give and then some on my own). I have gone through every line in each ifo file for at least the past 6 hours trying to find somewhere that keeps turning these subtitles on. Can anyone help?

I've tried adding precommands to each/any/every section in the ifo file but those subtitles still auto kick in...anyone?

Do these subs come on your home player or windvd or powerdvd?have you tried viewing the dvd files before you burn them? There should be a feature to turn off the subs via remote or menu cammand.

There is a sticky post over on the IFO FORUM of the DOOM9 website and this sticky tells you how to control the subtitles. I've had to use it a few times and it always worked for me. Although my problem in the past has been the opposite ... getting English subs to turn on my DEFAULT for foreign language films. Here you are trying to force NO SUBS on my DEFAULT but again I'm pretty sure than ifo is in that sticky post.

As for MATRIX RELOADED I originally backed it up using DVD2ONE but was unhappy with the MPEG-2 artifacts so I ended up doing a "true" back-up by creating a D2V project file in DVD2AVI and re-encoding it with CCE SP using a 3-pass VBR and then I used TMPGEnc DVD Author and used only the 5.1 AC-3 English audio track. My back-up this way is very nearly artifact free and looks much better than the DVD2ONE back-up.

  4. Just use DVDshrink and un-check the subtitles.

If you use DVDShrink, and Re-Author, but leave the subtitles you will get the main movie, the #1 Audio and #1 Subtitle. If the #1 Audio is french and you unchecked it, then you won't get any aduio. That doesn't mean it's not there, it's just in the default menu to play the original #1's. It's particularly irratating for DTS being #1.

Take your settop remote and turn the subtitles off. That's all you need to do.

  7. i burnt it the first time and played it on my sony dvd player. realized subs were auto on. came back to comp and have been doing everything and anything with the ifo's looking for the command that auto turns them on.

then ive been opening them in intervideo windvd and these subs still come auto on. other dvds do not auto play subs when played in windvd. im sure there must be a way to stop these subs from playing by editing a command in the ifo's?

sure its just a few clicks to get them off, but cmon, why not learn how to fix this minor inconvenience with some effort and prevent it in the future!

Did you go look at that sticky post on the DOOM9 WEBSITE like I said?
