Hi All,
Just wondering if the sequence the optical drives can affect dvd/cd burning performance?
I've got mine like this:
*ALL DMA enabled / Autoplay disabled in WinXP*
IDE 1 Master: MSI dvd burner fw v2.30
IDE 1 Slave: LG Dvd-Rom
IDE2 Master: Plextor 52x cd burner
My hard drives are on the Serillal ATA interface.
The reason I ask is, which is more of a general hardware question, could my dvd-rom interfere with data flow to my dvd burner?
I've been using Ritek G04 -R's for my PS2 backups, using ISO read + write with dvd decryptor and the quality of the final discs seems to differ.
At the moment, i'm just trying, by process of elimination to improve the compatibility of all my dvd burns, so one day I can say 'I just use brand X for everything'
Any hardware experts care to chip with a different sequence for my optical drives?
Thank you,
B1.

You don't mention the MB or what processor or how much memory you are using, but obviously if you have SATA, it is fairly new. I don't really see any problem with your configuration. I can't see how they would interfere with each other. You could try putting the DVD-ROM as the second master because it is unlikely you would be running the CD burner at the same time as the DVD burner. It would help to fill out your computer profile in the future.
