    How can i convert a MPEG2 file to a suitable configuration (.vob files) to play on a stand alone DVD player.

    Assuming your mpeg2 is dvd compliant, you need to Author your file then burn to DVD. Check the Author section over there <-<-<-.

    If you're not sure if your file is DVD compliant then run it through avicodec and post all the information.

  3. Look for the tool svcd2dvd on this site follow the guides for it and off you go, it doesn't need to be dvd compliant, this tool will do it all for you.

    DVDlab is a DVD authoring software that can convert mpeg2 to DVD structure and it works also with non-standard mpeg2 files if your standalone player can handle it.
