  1. hello im really new to the whole thing of burning and backing up dvds

i have a mpeg file on my pc which needs encoding but everytime i try and put it through tmpg to make a dvd with the the mpeg file its huge and wont fit ont the 4.7 space needed.

Ive tried changing the settings so it becomes smaller but it will only go to a certain point still not small enough

when i try and do it through Ulead movie factory it shows up that the file is small enough to encode and fit onto my dvd.

My questions are why is it allowing me to fit onto the dvd with movie factory and not tmpg?

also movie factory always slows the encoding down loads so what is the best software to encode with?

Sorry if this makes no sense but ive read the how to guides and im still lost

    thanks for your time

  6. Its the bitrate that determines the final output file size, that and the playing time, nothing else. So when setting up TmpGenc its the bit rate you must change to adjust the file size. Use a bitrate calculator to determine what value to use for a particular playing time and target format.

  7. Check out the convert section and choose avi - mpg. If you extract the audio to a wav and then recombine this will sort your problem, guides for all of this can be found on the left hand bar.
