Splitting AVI

Hi all,

Couple of problems, I have finding nemo on avi which the file is just too big to change to vcd with nero, nero gets to the end of the check (which takes about an hour) and asks me for a bigger disk and will not continue.

1) Is there a way of re-encoding the file too make it a bit smaller

2) is there a program that will split the film into 2 whilst recording to vcd
