When I try to burn a SCVD ( using ulead Moviefactory ) I get the message "Failed to record data to the CD" , I also get problems when using Nero 6 + VCD easy - sometimes getting the message "Power calibration failed" ( or some message very like it ). Windows reports the CD-writer as operating OK. I can find nothing wrong - can anyone give me some ideas as to what is wrong please ? .

Setup:- Athlon XP2600 , 512mb pc2700 memory, DFI Lanparty NFII ultra m/board, writer = Sony CRX225E, running Win XP SP1.

Additional info , have also tried an LG GCE8320B cd-writer and the problem was still there. I had no problems before a recent upgrade to the m/board, memory and processor listed above.

    Any help appreciated - TIA

eg is it your computer or the drive or the comination of your computer with this drive??

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes , initially it worked OK , the problem seems to have grown as I've added other cd-writing programs to my PC. ( ie Nero 6 ).
I can write to cd-r and cd-rw using the basic tools provided by WIN XP but not reliably ( ie sometimes it works - sometimes it don't! ) - it is also difficult to get windows to erase the cd-rw.
Tried cd-rw and different media? - yes and I still get the problem. I don't believe the drive is faulty as I had the same problem with an LG writer I tried. The problem has arisen only since I up-graded ( new m/board , processor and memory as listed in my initial post.

    Roxio and Nero aren't compatible.

Did you install ASPI drivers (Nero Requires)?

    Thanks for the reply Gazorgan.

Yes I did install ASPI drivers. After I started having the trouble I un-installed Nero but the problem remains. I can't un-install Roxio part ( as far as I know anyway ) because it is part of the Win XP install as far as I can see.
