I've installed my Pioneer A06D, but everytime I start XP Pro SP1, it says it's located new hardware. It then asks me if I want to install the drivers (which there shouldn't need to be any) and fails. It then says my new hardware cannot be installed and might not work properly.
It does, it works fine, but EVERY time I boot up I get this message. It's doing my head in. Can someone help please??

Sounds like something with your bios. In your bios make sure you have the most recent version and you have your IDE set to auto detect.
What brand of computer do you have?
Another thing make sure you don't have a dvd or cd rom + your burner on master. Make sure one is master and the other is slave. -
I've got the latest BIOS from ASUS, and the slave master settings are correct. It's a P4S8X mobo. IDE is set to auto detect.

Also make sure you don't have any packet writing software ex.. InCD from nero. I heard this cause problems as well.
Did you flash it to a new firmware? If so maybe it was done
incorrectly
I don't think this matter but how about the drivers for your mobo, are they up to date. Like I have via chipset and the newiest via 4in1 drivers for my mobo. Also check if you have you drive in DMA mode but I don't think that should matter.
Try deleting you IDE Channel that you have your burner on and see if it finds it ok. But not if your burner is slave to your HD.
Or remove the drive reboot then reinstall it.
Hope that helps
