I am attempting to rip Lord of the Rings Two Towers to Divx. Normally I would SmartRipper, DVD2AVI (1.74), then Tempgenc Plus to get a vcd then virtual dub to get divx with mp3 sound.
With the second disc this process gave a flickering in the video. In attempting to correct it I changed to DVD Decrypter (downloaded 2 days ago), and DVD2AVI 1.77.
When I ran dvd2avi it created a d2v and AC3 file as expected, however TMPGEnc does not recognize the AC3 file, when I display all files and attempt to load the AC3 I get "file is wrong format or corrupted".
The first disc had gone through fine, but since I had encoded this differently and wanted to join them I want back to redo this and had the same problem.
Therfore I think it is a problem outside these programs, I just cannot figure out what. Even Soundforge would not open the sound file, Easy Divx simply doesn't put sound in the avi, and it's midpoint AC3 is also unreadable. Easy Divx is the only program added between the first disc encode and the second, removing it did not help.
Equipment is Pioneer A06 DVD-RW+RW, ASUS A7N, Athlon XP 2000+, with 512MB memory.
Any suggestions?

If you want a DIVX why use TMPEG? A program like Vidomi will convert the vob files directly to divx with mp3 sound. TMPEG and DVD2AVI are not needed!
TMPEG cannot process ac3 files. It can demux and remux ac3 but that is all.
Well it's not entirely true that TMPEG won't process ac3 files. I find that Ver 2.52 will encode ac3 files,at least on my computer. No other version will. -
My problem was with Easy Divx. After it was installed the AC3 codec would not work. I fixed by removing Easy Divx, then reinstalling music match and and radium.
In answer to your question as to why I go through all these hoops: I mostly encode captured TV shows and make VCD's out of them. The TMPGEnc edits the shows nicely. I recently bought a DVD writer and an Liteon LVD-2001. The Liteon will play Divx files. By converting my VCD's to DIVX I was able to fit whole seasons on a single DVD. All of Batman Beyond and Invader Zim ever made went on one DVD each.
Then I turned to my DVD collection, I used the tools I was used to. Basically I had virtual dub, TMPGEnc, Smart ripper, and ATI Multimedia center (can view vobs- I encoded the wrong ones a couple times). I avoided DrDivx because I already paid for the Pro Codec and thought I should get a discount. I will probably go back and run my DVD decrypter/DrDivx files through TMPGEnc and vdub only to reduce file size and still get a resolution better than the TV can produce. I really have not heard of the programs you mentioned, because what I had was working fine. My attempt at direct encrypting (Easy Divx) actually went badly with a week spent trying to make the thing work and finally having to dump it and reinstall my sound programs.
