  1. What would you guys recommend as the easiest / simplest way to copy a dvd and have the resulting dvd have no menu (just play) or have the menu but default to playing?

the dvd is not copyrighted material, so that's not an issue.

the dvdxcopy hack would work fine and is only '5 mins' but is still a bit of work...can you guys think of anything easier? any tool would be up for grabs...

I always use DVDShrink. There is a web page with very easy to follow guides on how to use the program. You can find it here: http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php. I always do what you are talking about. I really hate how newer DVD's have the FBI and 'the views expressed...' menu's that you can't skip. Thanks to DVDShrink, my backups don't have any of that garbage.

DVDShrink....Re-Author Mode....Main Movie only....Uncheck unwanted subs/audio. It doesn't get any easier than that!

  4. I use DVD Shrink for all of my ripping as well; however, I dont think that it is what you are looking for. If you are looking for something really easy, then DVDXCopy is as easy as it gets. What version are you using... the Express version automatically gets rid of the menu for you and its literally a one button program. But, if you've already tried it and don't like it then I suggest you try this link:

Lots of different freeware and trial programs there... that's where you'll find the one you want.
