  1. Hello -

Pulling my hair out (again) trying to convert a divx avi to DVD...

Original file is 23.976 fps NTSC Film divx with 48000 Hz mp3 audio.

    Here is what I've done:

    1. Saved the audio as an uncompressed wav file using VirtualDub
    2. Converted the video to m2v using TMPGEnc Plus (3:2 pulldown when playback, 23.976 but internally 29.97 fps)
    3. Converted the wav audio to ac3 using BeSweet
    4. Authored a DVD folder on my HD with DVD-lab

However, the resulting DVD files are totally out-of-sync. I did no frame rate or Hz conversion in BeSweet, and the original file was perfectly in sync.

One thing I notice is that DVD-lab shows my m2v file length as being 7 seconds shorter than the audio (wav or ac3), although it is the same length as the original divx file. When I import these same clips into DVD Maestro, it shows the video as just under one second longer than the audio (and now the audio is the correct length). Does this have to do with the 3:2 pulldown flag making these times inaccurate, or is something really out-of-whack with my video file?

Any other ideas as to why my audio might be out-of-sync with this process?

THANKS in advance for your replies.

  2. Anyone?

OK, my problem is a little different now, and stranger...

I recreated all my files from the beginning and reauthored the DVD folder in DVD-lab. Now when I try to use PowerDVD to view the movie, I get no sound at all. I do still get (out-of-sync) sound in Windows Media Player, but in PowerDVD all I get is silence.

Here's what I've tried so far (with no change in the results):

    * Uninstall and reinstall PowerDVD (versions 4 and 5)
    * Reauthored with other apps (TMPGEnc DVD Author, IFOEdit, DVD Maestro)
    * Burned this folder to a +RW disc (no sound on standalone either)

So what might be going on here?!? Somehow I think I'm having BeSweet or AC3 system extension issues. Anyone ever see this or know what might be causing it?
