Am curious if it is possible to back up PS2 games, and if so, what tools and format work best. Can anyone lead me in the right direction.

You need a mod chip or a swap meathod to play backup PS2 games. I have burned 2 PS2 games and they both worked. But I dont have a modchip myself so I gave them to a friend the other day that does and he said they booted fine. I used Nero6 to burn one of them, and Recordnow Max to burn the other, I will know more in a few days when I get my modchip in my ps2. Hope this helps. Any more questions...let me know if I need to be more specific!
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0 -
hagie i've been backen up my PS2 games for about a year now & all you have to do is stick the orginal game in your dvd rom & a blank disc in you writer, now load up your writer software (i use nero cause thats what came with my drive) & hit the button thats says copy entire disc.
when your dvd writer is finished you will now have a fully workin game
but like b1tchm4gn3t said you will need a mod chip or a flip lid to play it... i personal use the flip lid, its cheaper, doesn't damage your machine & i have never had a problem with mine
