  1. I have searched these forums high and low.....found a few things that just don't pan out in the end.

How do you convert a vob file to a freakin mpg2..........I know its possible....i think.

What program do I need........are vobs already mpg2?

I want to convert them to mpg2 so I can then convert them from PAL to NTSC via TMPGEnc. Then put them as NTSC mpg2 into DVD Workshop.

    PLEASE HELP ME..........arrrrgghhh.

  2. Vobs are for the most part mpg2.....with a few extras.

First you would need to use dvd2avi to demultiiplex the vob(s) into elemental streams. You could then use avisynth, creating a script to present the d2v file as an avi to tmpgenc. Or you could use vfapi instead of avisynth. Just remember to remultiplex the sound file......

  3. vobsnoopy does a good job for me.

it will extract a vob to an ac3 & an m2v file, you can merge them through tmpgenc.

You can also use virtualdubmod, it handles vob files.

Also tmpgenc can demultiplex (separate) audio and video, then reencode the vide and multiplex(join) it again. Go to file->mpeg tools.

  5. I use Womble Mpeg editor to turn vobs into mpeg2's. Very easy to use with great results. No demuxing needed.

You can do this with the MPEG TOOLS section of TMPGENC. Select de-multiplex.

When you try to browse, tmpg will not list VOB as one of the options it can read. If you set it, though, to read all files (*.*) and select a VOB file, it will show you all the streams included in the VOB and you can demux the ones that you need.
