I have a firewire connection on my computer but no software to go with it. I would like to capture my DV cam avi files directly onto my hardrive without changing them with compresseion or losing any quality using the firewire. I want to keep the great quality of the avi files and bring them into Cinema Craft to encode into a DVD.
What software program should I use to do this? Any suggestions? I dont want to lose any quality from the download, to the time I encode into my Cinema Craft encoder. So many programs capture and use compression but that just adds to the loss of quality. I have plenty of hardrive and fast enough processor and Ram to do this. Again my aim is to capture from DV cam using just plain firewire onto my harddrive which I plan to convert in CCE to a dvd format. No loss of video quality is important.
Thanks for any help, this site is awesome for newbies.

Just about any video editor should do this. For a capture-only program, take a look at Scenealyzer, http://www.scenalyzer.com/
