Ok this isn't about conversion so please keep reading.....hehehe
I got a DVD in the mail today but it is in PAL format. I knew it was in this format and I knew I was going to have to convert it which I am fine with.
Now this DVD is a collection of music videos from a group. The way it is setup is that there is a background picture of course and a list of their videos in text you scroll through to pick which video you want.
I guess my question is......is there anyway to save those pictures on there or do I have to get my own.....that is no problem if I have to get my own. Also what is the easiest way to link text to that part of the video.
What is the best program for this? Also there is a part of the movie that has live versions and making of the videos.........is there a way to link text on the main menu so it goes to another menu with the list of texts to the live versions?
Thanks for any help.

i suggest forget about the existing menu, and make your own. the advantage is that you can make it exactly the way you like.
i don't know which band you're talking about, but i guess there are some pix of it on the internet. or maybe you have some pix yourself.
for software, see the tools section of this site. lotta stuff!Music was my first love, and it will be my last -
Yeah pictures is a nice idea! If you tell me which group it is... I may be able to help you! And about music....... you can do the "besweet thing" audio conversion.... but the music will sound differen... you can make a non standard pulldown with avisynth!~or do a high quality framerate conversion...

I for one am not sure I follow the original poster. What exactly do you want to do with this DVD?
-
Ok.....sorry if I was a little unclear at first. I will try to clear things up.
Ultimately what I want to do is, Rip the DVD to my hard drive, preferably in mpg2 format but I think you can only rip to VOB......right?
Then I want to take my mpg2 and convert it to NTSC in TMPGEnc.
I decided to then take my own images as backgrounds and what not and create a new DVD in DVD Workshop. I know how to do the text thing now so thats not a problem anymore.
So I guess what I need to know how to do is:
Rip from DVD..........I can do this already but only get VOB files. I want them in mpg2..........how do I convert these?
Hope this clears things up a little bit.....sorry about before.
Thanks again.

OUCH.....convert from PAL to NTSC.....I'm out....
I tried one little piece of video once to experiment....NOT an easy task....at least for this newbie...
Did I mention I failed miserably?.....I did.
I know you can rename a .vob to one of the many MPEG filenames....but you still need to contend with the AC3 audio in that .vob.
I've read that you need to seperate the video and the audio then rejoin them once the frame rate and speed of the audio are changed....I THINK.
There are MANY guides and MANY different ways of doing it on here.
Me personally.....I'm content with Region Free stuff. The "PAL in America" mystery is NOT as bad as it seems. Take that DVD to your local Best Buy or whatever and start sticking it in DVD players.
If it is a factory DVD...when you do a "back-up" via the free rippers available here....it becomes region free at least. That way it wont give your DVD-Rom drive fits anymore...asking to to change your region code until it become inoperable..
Anyone else?....TOO much for my little brain. -
HEHEHEH ya I hear ya when it comes to this stuff. I have successfully converted a mpeg to NTSC from PAL but that isn't too tough when using TMPGEnc.
As for the AC3 and VOB stuff I seem to be at a loss. From what it sounds like, I can rename the VOB to mpg, then I have to pull the audio out and change the speed on that? That is crazy....lol.
My DVD player, plays this DVD just fine. I got the Liteon 2001......it has played anything I throw at it. But I am not sure about my parents DVD player when I go home for Christmas to visit. I don't think it has the PAL/NTSC capabilities.
Do XBoxs have this feature? I doubt it but I could be wrong.
Thanks again for helping me out. I have read through a number of tutorials and none seem to focus on what I want to do. If I find a way, maybe I will make my own tutorial.

Call your folks....get the make and model number of their player....come back here and look for a region hack for it....take the hack with you when you go(if there is one)....
