  2. bad quality media or burning too fast (possibly on crappy media).

try reducing your burning speed or burning on high quality media.

  4. I am havig a similar problem that is "media free" Backing up the second disc of the Two Towers extended set. Disc 1 worked well. This is winded but worth it. Normally I rip with Smart Ripper (never got around to trying something else), then use dvd2avi to get a d2v and AC3 file that TEMPGENC can use to make a vcd (I will burn VCD's) Then I join the mpeg files and convert to divx with virtual dub. I burn the divx to a dvd (these I watch on a Computer or LVD-2001).

The problem is that the TEMPGEnc output of the second disc has flickering starting about thirty minutes in. First I redid the whole process to no avail. The first disc had ripped OK, so I figured Norton had tried to run. Then I tried Easy Divx, rip and encode all in one, (http://easydivx.does.it/), great video with no flicker, however the sound is separate. And TMPGEnc, virtual dub, and Sound Forge will not work with the sound file (I tried 2-channel and AC3).

Is there a fix for this (frame flicker) I am missing?

I am still working on this problem, Trying DVD Decrypter then DrDivx (quality is good enough I could back encode to VCD). In the end I could use the Easy Divx video and TMPGEnc or dvd2avi audio (dvd2avi used to in the tools here, but I can't find it now).

  6. Optodisc Gold are pretty well revered on this forum, and can be had for around $30-35 shipped for a 25-pack cake box. I use a Pioneer A06, and have had mostly good results with them. This is not to be confused with OptodisK, which are a brand name ripoff. If you're in the states, Target has TDK 2x DVD-Rs on sale from time to time for $29/25 pack. They work very well for me. I usually use Ritek GO4s, but they may be a bit more than you wish to spend.
Check the "DVD Media" link on the left hand side of the page for info on media compatibility and to find out what works best with your writer and/or standalone(s).

    Good luck,

  7. try Ritek (the color purple at the bottom of the disc). Datasafe Media uses this and I use these with no problems both storing and to watch on my dvd player.

  8. Oh hell, not ANOTHER one !!

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=177679&highlight=color+colour+care

    And many other such posts.

YOU CAN NOT JUDGE A DISC BY THE COLOUR OF THE RECORDING SIDE.

I wish people would stop posting inaccurate crap like that.

    Sorry, rant over.

When you buy the Ritek's make sure you get the RitekG04's.

They are the 1x - 4x Authentic Ritek Media (Bundled by Ritek). They are purple on the bottom but that's not exactly an accurate way of picking them out, the california Raisins are purple on bottom also that doesn't make them good media.

They are $124.00 for a 100 stack at shop4tech. I have had good luck at www.shop4tech.com but others on this board have had nightmares buying from there.

I've had a pleasant experience with shop4tech, got 3 orders from there. Can't beat their prices + free shipping.

  11. It could also be your DVD Standalone player. I have the Optodisc gold and it skip twice during a movie. I played that on another player and there's no skipping at all.
