My Pioneer A06 can only burn at 1x

Hi all, I have a problem with my Pioneer A06 4x writer. I can only burn at 1x using -R Verbatim and Fujifilm blanks. The blanks says up to 4x on them but I can only get them to burn at 1x.

I'm using DVD Shrink and Nero 6 Ultra.

a friend of mine has a sony dru500a burner and i have a pioneer a06.

we've both used verbatim datalife (not datalife plus) dvd-r's, they burn @ 2x on his burner, but only @ 1x on mine. its all about the supported burn speed for a particular media set by the manufacturer in the firmware for the burner.

or you could buy 4x pioneer dvd-r media.

Does any brand burn at 4x ? If not, be sure DMA is enabled in device manager and see if that helps.

I already have the later FW1.07. So how do you enable the Ultra DMA setting?

Right click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. Go down to properties. Click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on the button that says "Device Manager". Right click on the IDE ATA/Atapi controllers. Where your DVD recorder is connected check to be sure "enable DMA if available" is actuated.
