  1. Hi, does anyone know of any true NTSC/all formats conversion to PAL version mpg/movie files utility. I've been using TMPGENC 2.510 to convert NTSC to PAL mpgs. It works, but the problem is the movie is no longer smooth once converted to PAL format. But it was very smooth in the NTSC format . After converting to PAL format, the mpg movie becomes slow motion and not smooth. What's a terrific format conversion program? Thanks. .

The problem most likely is not TMPGEnc but your method(s).

Take a look at this website:

    http://www.geocities.com/xesdeeni2001/StandardsConversion/

This is an excellent website. You have to sort of "fill in the blanks" a bit but if you are familiar with TMPGEnc then it should not be too hard.

Also, as most PAL equipment handles NTSC without problem, you're better of not converting, but create your output with the same standard as your source.

Use Google to find out what"s out there.
(examples: Atlantis, Advanced Converter and NLE related).
go to www.dvfilm.com/atlantis as they may have the answer you are looking for.

  5. I've tried a lot of the "easy" conversion utilities with no success. I've found that the way that works best for me is to follow this guide up to Step 2 except do NOT save the avi as stated at the end of Step 1. There is no reason to have to encode twice. You'll just waste a lot of time and lose quality. Then continue on through Step 2 and Step 3 (ignore everything in the guide after that) except you want to frameserve into TMPGEnc instead of CCE.

This guide is for PAL to NTSC, but I would assume it would work in reverse also. Also, just ignore this if you aren't going AVI to SVCD.
