If you use the big3 backup method, you most likely know which files I'm talking about. Why and when should I use one over the other?

Well, one is a program that helps you use the extremely expensive software that you stole, defrauding the authors of tens of thousands of dollars.

The other is a NEW program that helps you use the extremely expensive software that you stole, CONTINUING to defraud the authors of tens of thousands of dollars.

But beyond that, I'm lost. I'm sure someone else in here knows though... *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

  3. 1) We work under the assumation that people own their software and DVDs that they are backing up

    2) If you only wanted to insult the guy and show how 'much more moral you are' why even answer

    3) http://forum.doom9.org join the Big3 discussion forum, they can answer all your questions and then some.

Gurm there is absolutely nothing in his post which suggests that he is engaging in any illegal activity, or that he is otherwise breaking any forum rules. You on the other hand are breaking the forum rules by hijacking this thread with unsubstantiated accusations. Please leave the moderating of this board to the moderators.

kisk I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. As Gurm said, however, I'm sure someone else on this board will help you.

    And here I am...
The only difference between these two files is that the NewDoCCE.txt file contains all of the information to pass directly to DoCCE4U and is useful in version 1.0.1.5
The other file DoCCE.txt doesn't pass this information directly but the end result is the same.
In the Help file in DoCCE4U there is information about the different .txt files.

The main thing you were probably wondering though is will there be a difference depending on which one you use? The answer is no there won't.

If you have Reauthorist execute DoCCE4U automatically then it will load the NewDoCCE.txt file for you.

And as for GURM....i'm so sick and tired of you and your condescending attitude towards people on this board and i'm sure others are too. Take some advice from Adam and find something more constructive to do with your time.

AND actually there is only ONE program he was talking about...if you read what he wrote instead of acting like such an @SS you would notice he was talking about two different .txt files. If you had no help to offer you should have just moved on.

See? I knew someone would be able to help him.

And I _do_ understand that we're "assuming" that everyone owns all their software. It's just a bit galling - and I'm sure the people in the AutoCAD forums feel the same way when someone comes in and says "so I just put AutoCAD on my spare machine to play with, and I wondered how to best configure it since I can't update it because I'm using a no-dongle patch..."

But we've had this argument before, right? We're going to "assume" that people "bought" their $30,000 piece of software. Ok.

Am I condescending? Maybe a little. Am I "overly moral"? Hell no. I'm an opportunistic quasi-pirate and proud of it. Let's just call a spade a spade. You don't "redistribute stored capital", you rob banks. You don't "initiate insurance action", you steal cars.

But then again we HAVE had this discussion before, so I don't expect anyone to realize my point.

But the question is, why did I post in the first place?

Because I feel that it might be helpful to enlighten the newbies as the the HIGHLY questionable status of their unethical use of an EXTREMELY expensive program, that's all. I knew someone would answer, and I knew who the someone would be.

Am I saying it's wrong or bad to do so? Only in a satirical sense. I think I have Scenarist around here somewhere, and oh look I seem to have misplaced my legal key...

Someone can steal TMPGenc just as easily as they can steal Scenarist. The program's price tag is irrellevant, neither this boarrd nor society assumes the worst simply because someone has something that doesn't come cheap. You are the only one who mentioned anything about lacking a dongle. If he had, then I would have given him a warning.

  10. The thing is his question wasn't even about scenarist, or even really backing up DVDs. It was what's the difference between two script files that a freeware program generated. Sort of like asking about avisynth files, then saying "avisynth is a great program people use to steal stuff they don't own, I can't help you but maybe someone else can."

    That's pure BS and ego.

The only difference is that my key is legal...you are the one in the wrong here because you even admit to being a software pirate. You make me sick coming here to judge what you call "newbies" on the morality and unethical nature of what you presumed to be a pirate...then you admit that you are a pirate...double standards won't get you very far in life.

Don't ever judge people on their habits and say "how awful that they steal software" when no one said anything about stealing software but you

    You're right, of course.

Please, continue your discussion of extremely expensive software that we all legally own.

TO THE REST OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD...I'm sorry but Gurm pushed me too far this time. I'm sick of him following me around to different discussions and making comments about pirating software when he is the only pirate I know of on this board.

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.

Sorry I had to give you the warning Jarvis, because I think I understand your frustration, but that post was uncalled or. I don't see any reason why you should leave this forum simply because of one rude member. Just ignore him if he bothers you that much.

@Gurm: If you didn't before, I think you must now understand the position of this board regarding piracy and the assumption that we are using the information on this site for legal purposes unless there is evidence to the contrary. kisk got pretty much the definitive answer to his question, so I don't see any reason to keep this thread going any longer.

You're right, and I toned down my answer. We've had this argument out a dozen times and it never goes anywhere, and I'm sorry I dredged it up again.
