  1. Ok here is what I want to be able to do, I hope this does not violate the no conversions rule here because my post is really about authoring software NOT about converting but I need to explain my situation first. I have a collection of Anime in OGM format that I intend to burn to DVD, these inlcude a video stream, multiple audeo streams and subtitle streams. I am confident I can demux these and rencode them to compliant DVD formats for the appropreat video/audio/subtitle streams, eg [*.m2v,*.(mp2,mpa,ac2,wav,etc...),*.sup]. Since these Anime episodes are only 30 mins long I would like to be able to fit more than one of them on a DVD and create a menu system to access each episode However I want to keep the multiple audio streams AND the subtitle stream. If I were only dealing with putting 1 episode per DVD then I wouldn't need to worry about having a menu and I could easily use IFOEdit to author the DVD. However the combination of menus and subtitles and multiple audio streams seem to narrow my options of software packages substantially since I understand that many authoring tools do not support the addition of subtitles. If possible I would very much like to use all freeware tools, I know this can greatly complicate things but I don't mind at all using multiple tools to get the job done. For example I have thought of doing it this way: Use IFOedit to create each 30min eps essentailly as a separate DVD because IFOEdit can handle the multiple audio streams and the subtitles, then use some kind of freeware program(s) to combine these DVDs into one larger DVD with a menu. If this or something like it is not possible then could anyone reccomed what they think would be the best "all-in-one" Authoring tool to fit these needs, again it must be able to handle multiple audio streams as well as subtitles and menu creation. Thanks!!!

Looks like you need to jump up to something like Sonic's Reel DVD of course at $700.00 US, it might be better to give up on subtitles.

You could head over to the DVD-Lab forum and ask the experts there...

  3. Another option might be to create the DVD structure you need in IFOEDIT, then use something like DVD-Lab or TMPGEN DVD Author. these programs can work with the VOBs without demuxing them, hence you can keep the multiple audio and subtitle streams.

Very true, andkiich, I had forgotten about that feature of DVD-Lab.

I have burned 100s of DVDs with DVD-Lab, but it has all been client's original material or transfers from VHS or DV tapes.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into doing this later when I get my burner, hopefully christmas. If it works out I might even post a guide.
