I have been converting quite a few of my tapes to DVD over the past month.
Initially, I was using Vegas 4.0, and converting to Mpeg2 using it's built-in Mainconcept Encoder. The results were pretty good.
The last couple of times, I decided to use Tmpgenc Plus to convert to Mpeg2. I was blown away by the quality. The results were much more pleasing than with the Mainconcept Encoder. even using one-pass constant bitrate.
The Mainconcept seemed to produce some artifacts (blockiness).
The Tmpgenc Plus encoder prodeced ALOT FEWER artifacts, and blockiness was almost non-existant, even at bitrates as low as 4MB/s.
This has just been my observation. Needless to say, I will continue to use Tmpgenc for DVD conversion.
Question... Is there an easy way to frameserver Vegas 4.0 to Tmpgenc Plus?
