  1. This is driving me nuts. Why can't I copy my home movies, recorded on a DV camcorder, onto a DVD in good quality?

I am using a firewire card and WinDV to get the movie onto my hard disk. I then use Ulead Videostudio 7 SE DVD to edit the movie, add basic titles and then burn the result onto an EMTEC DVD-R.

When I play the DVD on a PS2 it looks ok untik the camera pans and then the image is jerky untl the panning stops. The DVD wont play on my DVD player at all, it says "No Disc".

I am not going to be a video expert but I do want to simply get my home movies onto DVD's and I want good quality. All software that I use is with default settings as I don't know what any of the setting are for.

Please help before I abandon this all together.

    Thanks

    David

Probably too low a bitrate. Unfortunately in this hobby you have to do quite a bit of reading and studying to get the best quality DVD. Home video is especially hard because the more camera movement, the higher the bitrate needs to be to get rid of jerkyness. As far as compatibility with DVD players, may be the player, may be the media, or even the encoding method. No easy answers except to study the guides and educate yourself. Since you are using DV, you might encode just a few minutes of video, especially a part you are having poor results with, and try a few options with Ulead untill you get the quality you want. Then try a full encode.
