I'm attempting to convert the Two Towers to VCD but my second discs isn't converting correctly. I'm using SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, TMPGenc. Disc 1 conversion went flawless, but the video on the second discs flickers. I played the vobs on PowerDVD and they seem fine.
System: P4 1.6, 512mb
Settings:
1) SmartRipper (same as Sefy's)
2) DVD2Avi 1.74 - Field Operation is none (ie not Forced Film), Decode to WAV and "48 -> 44.1KHz" is off. Info: 16:9m 29.970fps, Film.
3) TMPGEnc - 2.510
VCD - NTSC, Interlace, Bottom field first, 16:9 525 line (NTSC), Full Screen (keep aspect ratio 2). I have the VFAPI and DVD2AVI.vfp files
Any help or advice would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

I have exactly the same problem. I get flicker in the film starting about thirty minutes in. Using the same software. Have also tried Easy Divx get good picture but no sound. I am still trying to fix, will switch to DVD decrypter and dvd2avi 1.77, and DrDivx. Post after trying these.
Comforting to know this isn't just me. -
I have been enable to encode to Divx using DVD decrypter and DrDivx. I attempted to use the new DVD2AVI, but the sound file (AC3) was not recognized by TEMPGEnc. I could back encode to mpg using the Divx file as an audio source, but the sound problem is vexing. Also DrDivx makes a larger file than TEMPGEnc then virtual dub.
