this problem has been haunting me ever since I got into watching SVCD's a couple of years ago, many NTSC movies I've seen is not playing back smooth, it jerks forward, like 1 frame is missing every second or 1frame is shown twice. I tried to playback with many Mpeg2 codecs, powerDVD, winDVD, Elecard. and even with my sigma design hollywood+ hardware MPEG2 decoder card. and I have not seen this problem on PAL releases, they playback smooth, I'm thinking, if it was a cheap PAL stand alone DVD, maybe it doesn't have a good NTSC -> PAL converter, and therefor it's jerky, but this is on a computer, it should play NTSC as good as PAL, am I right?
I haven't tried making my own NTSC SVCD since I dont have a good NTSC source eg. DVD. but the PALs I make playback flawlessly.
anyone else have the same problem? my question is, do the group encoders know what they are doing?
