  1. Okay after backing up a couple of DVDs via DVD Shrink I attempted to use TMPGEnc DVD Author. However, after I import my files the Clip Information section of TMPGEnc indicates that there is no audio present. These DVD have AC -3 (2 channel) sound, so I'm confused as to why I receive messages that state that there is no audio present. If I use aprogram like Nero Express, I do not seem to have this problem. What am I doing wrong???

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  3. it's looking for separate m2v & audio files, not .vob files with both audio and video. you need to get the separate video & audio files from your vobs.

Not true. Perhaps TMPGEnc DVD Author doesn't accept ac3 (I don't know if it does or not). I've imported a number of vobs to TMPGEnc DVD Author without any problem, but none of them use ac3 audio. But you do have to clip on the "Add DVD video" button and not the "Add file" button".

I've used TMPGEnc to import VOB files that had DOLBY DIGITAL tracks with no problem. The only "problem" is it will ask you which track you want if there are more than one. So you are limited to only one audio track.

I often use this to back-up some of my DVD discs. I back up just the movie and the main audio track (usually 5.1 DOLBY DIGITAL).

    It has always worked.

Please note I haven't tried it with DTS.

I wanted to build motion menus, so I thought I would give TMPGEnc a try.

  8. TMPGE DVD Author will only see the audio if its a single track, no matter if its 5.1, 2.0 of PCM, but if you have a DVD that has 5.1n and 2.0 and say DTS it will have problems working correctly, error out or when you can author it, there will be no sound, I have work long hours with this to figure it out, if you have a DVD that has multi audio tracks, you 1st need to back it up and only choose one of the tracks to burn back onto a RW or rip to your hard drive with using something like DVDShrink, then use the RW or VOB files on your hard drive back into DVD Author, works every time this way.

When I import VOB files into TMPGEnc DVD Author and there is more than one AUDIO FILE I get a pop up asking me to select the AUDIO TRACK I want from a list of the available tracks.

Are you saying it doesn't do that for you?
