    I have some DVDR that are 4x speed but Nero only reads them as 2.4X , anyway to force Nero or any other program to write at 4 speed ??

    Not a good idea...

    Nero tests the speed of your machine as well as the media.

    If I am running any programs on my P4c 2.6GHz / 1GB RAM machine, Nero drops back to 2x. If I am encoding video with TMPGEnc or Edit Studio 4, NERO drops back to 1X

    Forcing Nero to use 4X is just asking for a coaster.

    Not too many drive (firmware) have 4x writing strategy on 2.4x media.

    I know the Liteon 401 can write 2.4x [RICOHJPN00] at 4x...

    What brand disc are you using? Use DVDinfo to get the media code and let us know what it is.
