i just got myself a new dvd writer. i have been using nero for 2 years. i would normally use the nero encoder to encode my divx files to svcd and then burn them on cdrom. nero doesn't seem to me to have this option for dvd rom.

so what i am trying to do here is burn my divx files onto my dvd rom (too avoid trying to fit my files on 700mb cds) into even svcd to then play on my dvd player hooked up to my tv so i don't have to watch the divx files on my computer.

thankyou. hope you understand. if not just ask away. thankyou for taking the time to read this and hopefully helping me through this.

    thankyou.

could you please direct me to the so called article. i feel that this is a very inadequate answer and will get me no where. most of the articles i read seemed to be geared towards cd-rom.

thankyou for the help though it was very much appreciated.

    regards

Nero is the one of the worst encoders out there and should only be used for burning.

To go from avi to DVD you need to encode your video to DVD compliant mpeg. TMPGEnc is great for that.

Your DVD audio can be wav, AC3 or if you're making a pal DVD, Mpeg1 layer 2 (MP2).

Input your audio and video into your authoring program, TMPGEnc DVD Author is widely used, then burn the resulting files to disk.

If you go to "Guides" (over there <-<-<-) and click on format conversion you can select your input and output formats from a drop down list. Click Search or List Guides to find the guide which applies.

    Good luck.

I would imagine not taking the time to read up on the many useful guides on this site would be somewhere close to the top of the list of ways you went wrong. A lot of people who you insult with your childish comment on number of users here have gone to great length providing all of this information for you to use. The answers are all there. All you have to do is read.

You also have a rather misleading name you have chosen for yourself. Who or what have you helped, exactly? Looks like you come here wanting everybody to hold your hand and spoon feed you answers you will hopefully approve of.

I would suggest picking another one and starting over.

i have nothing to be ashamed of. i have conducted myself in an orderly manner.

i was only a silly joke and in reality that swhat alot of message boards are like. for example u just told me to go get another screen name. do you see my joke?

    read up on what?

i did a search for divx to dvd-rom. nothing came up. my live doesn't revolve around making dvds so i am a bit of a diddy when it comes to attempting this sort of thing.

there are mentally challenged people (ie me) who find it impossible to do what you are asking of them . . . and since you are obviosly capable of this and seems that you have found this information before then pasting a url on the board wouldn't be to much to ask would it?

    thankyou

i figured the problem out. lack of disk space. i have the problem fixed now.

in dvd encoder can you put more than one movie in?

ie have the 2 files on the same disk?

it would help me keep costs down.

    thankyou

In your DVD Authoring program you can put in more than one file, up to 4.3 GB.
