Conversion help (wmv-mp2)

Sorry, cannot find info on this on the 'convertors' pages. I am looking for a prog to convert wmv files to either avi or preferably to mpeg2 (to burn as svcd). Can anyone advise on this? Preferably freeware or a demo.


On same subject, I use TGMPenc. This will not recognise wmv files. Is there a plug in that will sort this out?

Of course TMPGEnc recognizes .wmv's. It is one of TMPGEnc's best kept secrets. Did you get an error message?

ASF tools will spit out an AVI (but the WME 9 codecs aren't 'allowed' to use the AVI wrapper). that can usually be converted via standard procedures.

Hi. Ok, I am using TMPGenc plus (2.5). I have tried with a few wmv files and it will load them (as in pick up and display the first frame) but ..... if I then go into settings and 'source range', the whole program freezes.

So ....... just tried to convert without selecting source. It works! Good news, but ..... any ideas as to why I cannot select source range?

I know Source Range takes a long time. It may have been working, but very slowly.
