  1. I have looked through about 20-30 pages of the old forums and have seen the problem, but not found the solution yet. The problem is in Ulead DVD Workshop AC-3 pack 1.3. Once I get to the menu phase If I do anything but a standard menu I get "Unsupported Operation..." message and it crashes. I talked to the Ulead support but they were not much help. Those of you who had the problem, what OS are you using? If anyone has a solutions or tips it would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Is it possible that it's time to consider reformatting c: (system) drive and re-installing Microsoft Windows?

I have DVD Workshop running on three pro-configured workstations without the problem you have described.

  3. Jerry, DVDWS with AC-3 that I have came off the studio quartet disc I purchased... is your version just DVDWS (not part of the studio quartet disc)? The reason I ask, I did do a fresh install of Win2k SP3 and applied patch and NPF and NAV first then installed the Media Studio Quartet disk. I had trouble right off the bat as the disk would auto run but not install. I had to use the setup.exe files for each... so, I am wondering if there may have been a problem with the version on this particular disk (I know, I am streching it). I have also tried it on my work lap top (completely different software combo but Win2k SP3) and same problem.

  4. I don't know.

I bought the download version of the AC-3 PowerPack and applied that to my original DVD Workshop installation.

If you suspect the version included on the StudioQuartet disc might be problematic, you should phone:

    1 (310) 896-6391, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm PST

That's the Ulead customer support number.

Last time I tried, I got through to a Ulead customer support staff person in Los Angeles within 10 minutes - so you might give that option a try.

They may be aware of some issue that I am not aware of in this regard.

    Hope this helps,

  5. I have called there help line and emailed them, they just blamed it on Windows 2000, the guy didn't even ask any other questions. I was thinking about installing Win98 (as I don't own a copy of XP) on one of my other HDD's and set up a dual boot to see if it would resolve the problem... but some of my mpeg files are bigger than a gig and I can't remember the max file size of FAT32 or if there is a way to use NTFS in 98. Thank you for your help though!

I had that exact same problem with DVD Workshop 1.3 many months BEFORE the AC-3 pack came out.

Ulead's tech help was no help. Just told me to uninstall and reinstall the program. Didn't help. When I told them so, i got no reply.

I now use TMPGEnc DVD Author.

  7. Robert, is the version you have from the Stuio Quartet disk or is it a Downloaded version, or just the program itself on a single disk? The reason I ask is I believe that there may be a problem with just a certain version/s of DVDWS. Since you use XP as an OS, you have already eliminated one of the solutions that Ulead has provided me (use XP not 2k).
I have read in one of the earlier forums about some one that had the same trouble, but it was b/c of a terminal server software, or something like that, he/she was using.

  8. Phone the number again: 1 (310) 896-6391, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm PST.

    Ask for Ronald.

He'll know if there was an issue with the StudioQuartet discs.

I'm running Microsoft Windows 2000 and Ulead DVD Workshop 1.3 on one of my three workstations with absolutely no problems.

    So I know it's possible.

I downloaded the original 1.0, used it with no problems, "upgraded" to 1.2 which is where the menu crash problem started, upgraded to 1.3 which didn't help.

  10. Robert, I have just found a solution to our problem; although a tricky one. I formatted and installed win2k on an extra HDD, only installed the vid card driver and DVDWS (with help from Ulead as it would not auto install and would not install with the setup.exe file) and it has not crashed yet {knock on wood}. Although I have to use a dual boot, it does work and work well!

Jerry, thanks for your advice - I did not talk to Ronald, however, the gentlman who helped me was awsome!
