  1. I downloaded DVD Architect and Vegas 4 the other day, and Vegas is definitely a great program for capturing. However, Im looking for a authoring program that can do the following

-Have text links to movies (and can optionally have a rollover affect that will change in image in an image box as the different titles are scrolled over)
-Have an image link that can do what is listed above
-Have different chapter buttons on the main menu point to different sections of the mpeg being added (in instances when the mpeg has like 3 episodes of a show, and you want the buttons to point to the beginning of the seperate episodes)
    -motion menus and or background
-opening video that fades into the menu
-possible video transitions when going from main menu to scene selection menu
-can move text/images/etc anywhere on workspace (no crappy template restrictions)
-like dvda, can resize and stretch, and it will automatically sharpen images or text
-would like it to be able to import.vob files (but I can always bring in from dvd-shrink)

Is there anything out there like that? Is DVD-Lab capable of those things?

    One at a time:
    1. These would actually have to be seperate still menus if I'm reading you correctly. There would be a pause depending on the speed of you player as the menu changes to the still with the pop-up image. There's no way to do that with subpics in a menu unless you're just looking at having a simple color icon that pops up. This will likely require a good image editor like Photoshop or maybe even DVD Menu Studio or whatever that app was.
    2. ditto
    3. This sounds like a scenes menu pointing at chapters in a stream. Should be able to do this with almost any DVD mastering app.
    4. I use Adobe Encore with motion menus made in AfterEffects
    5. ditto, though the intro movie will actually be a motion menu if you want seamless transitions, otherwise there will be a little hiccup between the video file and the menu
    6. same as above basically
    7. Those "crappy template restrictions" may be the safe title area for most televisions so you may want to mind them. Encore has a built-in menu creator, or else most people use the picture apps I listed in #1 to make the menu and then add buttons and all that in the mastering app
    8. You'll probably need to do that with your video editing it sounds like. Premiere and AfterEffects both have filters and effects to clean up video, but it can be a long and trivial process.
    9. Dunno about that one, most people aren't using VOBs until they've mastered their DVD

    Did I miss one?

Have a look at this "Hiding in the Workshop" tutorial about Ulead's DVD Workshop:

    Hope this helps,

I've just been playing around with it recently myself but I believe DVD-Lab can do a lot of what you wanted. Check the main website for some of the tutorials.

I think there was one on their site specifically telling how to do this type of effect.
