  1. Hi,

I just wanna know whether anyone experiences the same problems?
I always backup my DVD with the Optodisc DVD-R 1x version. Lately i've been backing up my DVD with Nero 6 and it wrote successfully but when i put it in my DVD Player (Mintek DVD-2110) during halfway of the movie, it will always freeze and stop working........... it's been frustrating. I was wondering if it's the problem with the DVD-R itself or is it the DVD Player???

    Thanks

Using any 1x or 2x Media (such as Princo, Memorex, Optodisc) is asking for trouble, unless they are famous brand like Maxell.

I'm going to have to disagree with Sam Ontario. I have had excellent luck with Ritek G03 disks, which are rated 1X, and burn at 2X in many drives (including Sony and Pioneer). I have never had a Ritek G03 which did not play well in a settop player. Many, many others have had the same experience.

Howsomeever, there are bad batches of media going around. If you spend a little time reading here, you will encounter several stories of people buying a bad batch of media.

Back to your original question, the problem almost certainly lies with the media, and not the player.

  4. Did you get a new batch of Optodisc 1X ?

I noticed more trouble with the last ones I bought. Old ones burned perfectly.

Optodisc are high quality discs, at the same level of RITEK and MCC and TDK.

However I too noticed a bad batch of the 4x gold ones a while back.

All my 1x gold and inkjet 4x discs are still just fine. Only recent coaster I had was caused by scratches on the disc.

OPTODISC have a deep purple dye and balance great, and can be filed up all the way to the edge. It is definitely NOT in the same garbage category as Princo and CMC.

maybe I was unlucky and the only optodisc batch I had were bad. Maybe I will try again if I run out of all my 4x Memorex and 2x Maxell (still got 100 disc).

  7. Thanks for all the great replies.... maybe it is because i'm getting a bad batch ones.... sometimes it's pretty frustrating though in the end you found out that the backup DVD that you did is not perfect.
