  1. When I installed the drivers for my ATI AIW Radeon card I got a message that said "UCI is not installed on this system. Some features may not work" or something like that. When I hit OK I got the message about "No DVD drivers present" (this message I understand. I use Power DVD instead of ATI's DVD player).

I haven't noticed anything not working but I'm curious about what UCI is. I hope I'm remembering it right. It happened both times I recently installed the drivers. I'm pretty sure it was UCI.

    Any one know?

It's whining that you didn't install the garbage ATI DVD Player. OK it and tell it to never warn again.

  3. Lordsmurf, are you sure that both messages refer to the DVD player? The second one specifically mentions the DVD player but the first one about UCI seems like it might be something else. I'd like to know what UCI stands for in any case.

MMC whines about several things, including MPEG-2 codec warnings, not having the ATI DVD player, telling you the audio clock is off by more than .02% (which is actually often wrong), lying about MMX, and a few other things. The UCI error I only remember seeing on earlier versions of ATI MMC. As long as it works, don't worry about it.

  6. I think UCI stands for "Unified Component Install" whatever that means. I think it has something to do with some of the Windows Media components.
