Error in Burning with Nero 6 and in Nero cd speed test

Hi,
I have a sony dw-u10a ( oem of sony dru500a) for about 2 months an I had no problem in burning at x4
About 2 days ago the dvd stopped working and got error in burning with Nero 6.

I transformed my dw-u10a to dru500a and then to updated the latest firmware 2.0f for the sony dru500a.
I run the Nero 6 Test disk cd-dvd speed test and got the following :
"No Additional sense information (00000) " in transfer rate test

(I got the same error message also before I made the change to dru500a)

Is this an hardware failure ? is it repairable ?
Any ideas ?

Are you running the test on a blanK? What does the chart look like with a burned disc.

Hi,
the test was done really with a blanc , I tried with a burned and I was surpriesed that it was ok .
any ideas ?

It is a read/transfer test. A blank has nothing to read. You check a burned DVD with it to make sure it has burned correctly (no drop offs/read problems ususally at the end). This is also the way to find the the right discs to use. For my burner the Ritek G03's show a nice straight reading in Nero's CD/DVD Speed test, Princo's do not.

How come I got this error only at 3/4 of the test ?

So I understand that this has nothing todo with me not succeeding in burning ?

Is there a test for me to run to find what is the problem ? any software ?
