  1. First I wanna say that I'm not sure where to post this since it contains several steps.

Anyway. I have been using my Philips DVDR 75 standalone recorder to transfer F1 races on VHS to DVD for archieval purposes.
Now I want to use my DVDs to make a "party disc" Esentially I want to rip a part from a vob here and a part from another vob there, like a crash a nice overtaking and so on.
Then i want to feed it into Pinnacle studio 8 to add music and such, and finally output as a mpeg2 which I'm gonna use to burna new DVD.

I have been editing mpeg2 in pinnacle but it's slow and seems to bog down the system. Uncompressed avi seems to be ths best alternative for editing.

I rip and use vobedit to demux the vob. Then I use tmpgenc to remux the m2v and sound file to get what I believe is the original raw mpeg2.

Question is, how do I turn this into an uncompressed avi as fast and easy as possible so I can edit in Pinnacle?

  2. Take a look at some of these guides . You will probably need to modify the info slightly but the basic steps should be the same.

BTW, you may want to consider Huffyuv or mjpeg rather than uncompressed as they take up less disk space and still provide little or no quality loss. Uncompressed avi is HUGE. Even a DV code may be a better choice.
