  1. I recently purchased a Lite-On 411s and a Haupauge PVR250 with the intention of transferring my home VHS movies to DVD. After many, many hours of compatibility problems with the Haupauge, I finally managed to get some film captured onto my H/D.

Ulead DVD movie factory which came free with the card does not allow editing which is vital to me.
Sonic MyDVD which came free with the burner produces mpeg2 files that are not recognized by my stand alone player (Reoc A5).

I have the same problem with files produced with Pinnacle studio8, and it is so slow at rendering it`s untrue, so I D/L a free trial of NeoDVD5 due to recommendations on your forum. I now have found out via their helpdesk, that my burner is not supported by NeoDVD because it will not recognize ANY blank DVD that is inserted.

I can make a straight copy of any DVD or SVCD with the afore mentioned blanks using Xcopy and it will play fine on my Reoc. My Reoc will not play a DVDRW`s under any circumstance and I`m soooooo sick of producing coasters at £1 a time.

    Any ideas plz

It is painful. Sell your capture card and DVD writer and buy a DVD recorder is the best approach.

From this comment, do I detect that you are simply burning the mpeg2 files to a DVDR and expecting your standalone player to play them? It won't is the simple answer. The files need to be converted into .vob, .ifo and .bup files and placed in a folder called VIDEO_TS on the disk to meet DVD standard and be readable.

Once you have edited the footage, then open that in movie factory and let it create the file structures for you.

No, I`m not just burning the Mpeg files I`m going through all the req`d processes req`d by each different bit of software to produce a DVD that I can play on my standalone but nothing I produce will play on my Reoc. Other DVD`s & SVCD`s from friends will play fine, I`m really pulling out the little hair I have left.

It might be worth starting from scratch and not trying to run before you can walk. Capture an hour or so of video using DVD movie factory, don't try editing or adding any menus or anything, just go straight to the encode and burn stage and produce a DVDR. See if that plays in your Reoc.

This will at least confirm your media and burner are OK.

    Thx m8 It works

I can achieve my goal if I...

    Capture through WinTV
    Edit/render through Pinnacle Studio8
    Burn through DVD Movie Factory

A very long, drawn out and time consumig process and 1st results are grainy but I`ve got something to work on untill NEODVD have got supportd drivers for my burner.

    Thx 2 all for help
