Removing Macrovision when playing from a Mac?

Is there a Mac DVD player that will remove Macrovision while playing the DVD? I'd like to record a DVD onto VHS direct from the Powerbook's video/audio outputs (without having to back up the DVD first to remove macrovision).

Possibly VLC but I haven't tried this.

Your alternative is to back up the DVD to your hard drive only then play the VIDEO_TS folder though Apple DVD Player out to your television. Once the VHS is recorded, just delete the folder. No need to burn a physical disc.
