  1. Hey there! I've been searching on this forum a LOT now to find an answer to my question, with no result. I have downloaded some SVCD m2v files. When I check them in AVICodec some of them are entitled as MPEG2 (SVCD/DVD) files and some of them are Cyberlink Video/SP files. However all of them works perfectly with my DVD Player on my computer and I have no problem at all with any of them...

    When I then tried to burn them onto and SVCD today to watch in my TV i found out that the ones listed as MPEG2 (SVCD/DVD) in AVICodec has sound when I play them on my TV and the other ones (the Cyberlink Video/SP files) are completely silent...

    How come? And how should I do to get sound on those files too when I play them on my TV? If I take the same SVCD and play it in my computer, all the videos has sound... Please answer this!

  2. m2v = video only file
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

  3. Huh? Why do they have sound when I play the files or the SVCD in my computer then? This can't be true?!

    m2v is in fact a video only stream. Whoever is uploading the mpg files is erroneaously calling them m2v,when they are in fact mpg files. The cyberlink/SP files are playing without audio because they are in fact m2v files?

  5. Well the thing is that the cyberlink/SP files have sound when I play them on my computer! But not on my svcd when I play it in my DVD-Player connected to the TV. But if I take the same SVCD with the cyberlink/SP files (m2v) and put it in my DVD-Rom, they all have sound in my computer...

    There must be a way to get sound on those files when I play them on my TV too...

  6. wulf109 is right about the files being misnamed.

    Try renaming your files to .mpg

    ...then demux them (in TMPGEnc, or BBmpeg perhaps) into audio and video elements (you'll notice that the video elements are .m2v files).

    ..then remux them again.

    See if that works.

    cheers,
    mcdruid.

  7. Well I tried that now and it just says: Illegal MPEG video stream. This is really strange since I see the picture on my TV and everything. So It can't be a totallt different file...

    There must be some simple solution for this!

    i don't know what software you used, but i got the same error using a mpeg2 file in virtualdub: virtualdub doesn't support mpeg2 files by default.
    about the sound: on the svcd should also be al file called same_name_as_m2v.mp2. mux the m2v and mp2 file and you should get a playable mpg.

    but... why don't you just copy the working svcd? that should always work.

  10. Well the thing is that I don't have a working SVCD. I downloaded the SVCD m2v files, and I don't have a file called "the same name as the m2v".mp2. I know that the m2v are supposed to be video only files, but my has sound. Therefore they should be regular mpgs. But it's not the standard codec since AVICodec says "Cyberlink Video/SP" instead of MPEG-2(SVCD/DVD)... And when i burn them they are silent in my DVD-Player that's connected to the TV, but it I play the same cd in my computer they all have sound...

    This is soooo strange... And there must be a way to solve this. If I try to demultiplex it it just says "Illegal MPG Stream" so I don't know what to do...

    i have a question: how do you play the file on your computer? using a standard mediaplayer or a dvd player?
    if it's e.g. ms mediplayer, the file may be named x.m2v (or whatever) while it should be x.avi. it will still play cos mediaplayer looks at the contents and not at the extension.

    btw: dit you try save the file as 'raw' avi (produces a rather big file) and then reencode it to mpeg? this should always work if you are able to watch the video on your pc.

  12. Well I've though that it might be an avi file, but then I think that AVICodec should tell me that it is an avi file and not a Cyberlink Video/SP file... And if it's and avifile I don't think I should be able to watch the picture on my TV when I've burned the file onto and SVCD... Or am i wrong?
