When i rip a dvd with dvd decrypter is rips at about 2.3x (i'm using win xp). Previously when i used win 2k it ripped anywhere from 6x to 13x. Does anybody know why its now so slow and how can i fix it? I'm still using the same hardware.

  2. Check your hardware in "Device Manager". If you look under IDE Controllers and check the properties of your primary and secondary channels.
It sounds like either your DVD or hard drive may be in PIO mode instead of DMA. If it is, right click and remove the channel and reboot your system. When it restarts it will reinstall the drives and put them in DMA mode.

You are prolly having an issue with your ASPI layer. Download a better one and you'll likely see your rip times improve. Also a possibility, some drives rip faster than others. I've heard that burners are awful for ripping, since most have the rip speeds pre-set to 2x or so. My burner rips at around 3x, but my dvd-rom rips at 8 or 9x.
