  1. I've been using tmpgenc DVD author for months and it works a treat but i want to give my mate a DVD and i cant get any to work on his player.
I've tried half a dozen makes of DVD-R and DVD+R but none work.
His player can play copies but i cant tell the make of them, so that i can use that type.
However i've read authoring can maybe affect compatability too.
Can anyone explain if this is correct and recommend any good authoring programs?

  2. what is your mate's player make/model? run the dvds that play on it thru DVDInfo pro to get the media id off those disc. are you using TDA to burn? try a diff burning app. do the disc that don't play on mate's play on yours?

  3. Yes, both the authroing program and the burning program can have an affect on certain standalones. But it sounds like your friends player might not play DVDR discs, period. As suggested above check the DVD Players list to the left.

If the disc works in your players, and other friends players, but not his that's a pretty good sign that his player doesn't like DVDR discs. You said you've already tried -R vs +R as well as different media.

  4. noki thanks for tip.
i use nero to burn it's worked on over 200 DVD's np.
i have'nt tried his DVD's on my player coz my player plays anything and it was only £49 from asda with 3 year warranty.

Vejita-sama when i said he can play copies i meant DVD-R and DVD+R but sadly not mine
I have checked the compatability list and his player is pretty good.
The DVD-R or DVD+R that play in his player are cheap, the ones i've tried were cheap, to medium priced.

I think the DVD's that work on his player were authored (and/or) burned a different way and this is the problem.

Can anyone expand on the authoring/burning compatibility enigma?
