hi there. i received multiple errors from nero 5.5 when burning data to a well-known brand DVD+RW. the errors go from 'unable to access drive' to 'file-error (40)'. i wondered if there's anyone using the same drive under Windows 98 too, and what program they use. thanks.

As I recall, Nero 5.5 doesn't recognize an NEC1300a. It's too new. It may be treating it as a different NEC drive.
Have you tried burning with a different app, like DVDDecryptor?
Do you have 4.71 ASPI drivers installed (this is a general driver, not 98 or NEC related)? To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
the version i'm using does. it's above 5.5.10. i already got this working, thing i gotta do is reboot without anything else starting up and then burn a dvd. thanks for the help anyways.

Smells like a memory issue. 98 doesn't have a decent memory manager. Burning DVD's isn't neccesarily RAM intensive, but it does use a chunk for cache. You need to fill out your profile to help troubleshoot hardware issues.
