As long as the file is 4.37 gb or under then there should be no problem, its not the time length of the video you need to look at,just the size.Make sure its dvd compatible and you have a dvd author program.

ok great, i was worried about the time..

the original video was 701mb avi file, i encoded it with video studio at 7000kbps, 720 480 etc, all dvd compliant but it turned out to be 5.16 gb size.. got the 7000kbps from powerbit calculator.
when i opened it in virtualdub it said the avi file had a 128 audio bitrate..
what advice or size( kbps) should i encode it aagain i dont want to keep trying trial an error, and do it over and over.

at what bitrate should i do it at? to get it to 4.37gb

    thanks

I ain't got a clue what video studio is, but you say it created DVD compliant files. So did this not create IFO's and VOB's?

if it did, just load that result into Shrink using file mode
