  1. In another thread Major said that Burn doesn't create subtitles for VCD and only for CVD and MPEG-2 (and that means SVCD). Is this correct?

I attempted to do a Burn Subtitles for a VCD but it failed and I only got a M1v video with no Burned titles visible under VLC.

I will be successful if I only choose for SVCD and Burn under Subtitle #1, and choosing the .sub file (which is an index to all the individual titles, right?) If this can be confirmed, I can try it for SVCD. Thanks.

  2. I just attempted a Burn of Subtitles for an SVCD and that failed too. This, after 3.45 hours! What shall I do? Thanks. I was unable to get the "info" as the beach ball just spun and spun and so I had to force quit...

  3. Subtitles are only supported when "Decode with mplayer" is active, and "Decode with mplayer" is only supported for mpeg-2 encoding right now.

You can use "Preview" to see if the subtitles are encoded, without waiting for the end of the encoding.

  4. This didn't work. I clicked on "Decode with Mplayer" and loaded the subs. But the resulting file which didn't give any "Failed!" notices was herky jerky on DVD playback (I think the 3:2 Pulldown was activated and should have been deselected).

I clicked on the encode button "Subtitles"; I chose "1" under the long list of numbers (thinking that this must be the Subtitles "channel" under which the DVD player recognizes the information), I chose "burn" under the pop-up menu. Under Load Subs, I chose the VLC-looking file that was titled .sub

But I may be wrong in assuming it will be a "closed caption" like effect. The "Burn" will re-encode my program with a burned "open caption" of the sub-titles, which is what I want. Have I missed something? Thanks!
