  1. i'm burning cds and when an error message appears (saying that burning failed) i assume that the cd can no longer be used. instead, my sister accidentaly used it and it worked!

she burned data on it. (i was copying vcds) how is this possible. can anyone shed some light on my problem please!

    i'm using a
    samsung 52 x burner
    vertex silver platinum coated cds
    ridata silver platinum coated cds
    nero burning rom v 6.0

The only way to "re-use" a CD-R is if nothing was actually written to the disk the first time. Somehow the burning failed before anything was put to disk, perhaps during the calibration of the laser.

  3. well, all the error messages were "no seek complete" and "calibration error"

does this means that when the calibration area is full, it can no longer be used anymore?

thanks a lot. i've got friends that tells me that cdr can be re-writen again, as long as it was never "closed". i knew they were wrong.

It can be "written to" again as long as it's not closed, i.e. a multi-session disk which can be added to but not written over.

Yes it can be used again but you might have trouble getting part or all of it working.
