  1. I am VERY new to this DVD "stuff" and as for most of the terms/features, I do not have a clue as to what they are for or do. I want to buy a nice DVD player for a Christmas gift. I have researched to the point that I am more confused than when I first started. I am thinking of spending between $75 to $150. It needs to be as basic as possible for the main use is just for watching movies. It seems that in reading most "consumer polls" that Pioneer is the most purchased/liked (?).

Thanks wayyyyyyyyyyyyy in advance! Have a SUPER week!

    J.

PS - Does anyone know much about the home theaters?

Pioneers are pretty good. I have 3 or 4 friends who bought em at walmart for $79 or so and they love em. They play multi formats....like vcd, mp3, dvd+r. dvd-r, dvd-rw. Thumbs up

  3. Thanks! 72 views and only one response - must be on the wrong forum. I am still confused but may get that Pioneer DVD player @ Wal-Mart. Heck, I do not know. I keep reading the reviews on all of them and ALL have good and bad things to say. Oh well, thanks again!

  4. if its just for watching movies, dont worry too much about the model...

try http://www.crutchfield.com/S-GVSLrEreXXo/ for info about home theaters and prices....

you mite consider an all-in-one with receiver/dvd player and all suround speakers which are easy to set up and provide great audio... 5.1 surround

if u are a real audiophile tho, youll want to build the system component by component... maybe 6.1 or 7.1 surround

  6. Thanks again!

Hun?? How will I know? What do I need to look for? Wonder why I am sooooooooooooooo confused. LOL LOL LOL Do you like your Panasonic? The Pioneer does all that "stuff" you said.

I did make some accomplishments today. I have ordered all three of the Austin Powers DVD's to go along w/the DVD player that I have not bought yet. I did not think they were funny the first 20 times I watched them. :P LOL LOL LOL

    Have good evening!

I have had nothing but good luck with Panasonics--they're inexpensive, and they support most formats. 8)
