I wouldn't do this unless I had to, but....
I made a DVD with this movie project for school, but I think I may have set the bitrate for the MPEG too high (I remember sliding whatever it was in TMPEG all the way to the right). The video and sound is jerky on some older players, but a few new players seem to handle it alright.
Whatever the case may be, I lost the harddrive w/ the oringinal DV AVI, but I need to make like 3 or 4 copies for my buddies I did the project with. So it looks I need to take the MPEG off the DVD (only copy of the movie I have left), and re-encode it at a lower bitrate or at least figure out whats wrong with it.
Since this means encoding to a lossy format twice, the quality is gonna go down alot, but what, if anything can I do to get the best out of what I have?

You may also have bad media, which is notorious for for jerky playback. If it turns out not to be the case, load the VOBs into Virtual Dub mod, framserve them TMPGEnc, reset your settings and encode again.

HI,
Even quicker. Load you files in DvD Shrink adjust size and Re Author. Takes about the same time as video.Keep going till you get it right!!!
