  1. I have Apple Compresser right now which I use for my higher quality mpeg2 encoding needs. I use CaptyDVD to author my DVDs, but I find its encoder not only ridiculously slow but also of poor quality. My question is, if I use Compresser, is there a reason to invest in Bitvice? Most things I've read say that it's hands down the best encoder out there.

    Anyone?

  2. I would stick with compressor. BitVice is slow and I don't think the quality is a good.

Just opinions... For me BitVice gives cleaner signal and colors more natural than Compressor... And don't forget that the Mpeg files created by Bitvice, at the same quality settings, are smaller (bitvice has an incredible variable bitrate engine!)...

bitvice has like 1/100th of the options that you have in compressor and i think altogether it is worthless as an encoder-- stick with compressor.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

right... Also, Bitvice is nowhere near worth the money since there are tools out there that perform the same functions with the same (or better) quality for FREE.

I use Compressor because of its flexibility.

  6. I don't wanna appear as the defender of Bitvice :P
... But saying that It's worthless It's an exaggeration...

Most of the options of Compressor are useless expecially if u start from an high quality movie: makin' the correction on the image direct inside your video editing app gives you more flexibilty and control (and a preview of the result!!!)

Not only... But also in case of low quality (and this is my case!) Bitvice gives u an options that Compressor has not: an incredible Temporal Noise Reduction (one of the best I have ever seen: not only on mac platform!) that really gives "new life" to your movie!

For Zerosix: please tell us what are these incredible FREE apps.
(avoid to make me laugh sayin' some mpeg2enc based app...)

  7. bitvice is both elegant and powerful -- don't let the playahaters say it ain't! i think apple will be able to compete with bitvice once they introduce kompressorXtreme! lol!!

  8. Another thing think about is how long will Innobits be in business. There is very little business for a $300 encoder, and Apple will continue to improve to the point Innobits will just disappear. Most people will not notice the difference in the quality of BitVice and Compressor, and I like the colors and quality of Compressor better anyway.

Innobits has 2 engineers, Apple has 50. The writing is on the wall. I would save my $300 and not buy BitVice.
