  1. I have a Panasonic DMR-E100H which I record music videos on to a dvd-r from satellite.

I have been recording music videos on to a dvd-r and I want to copy the Video_TS folder to my computer Hard Drive and edit out each music video and save it to my HD for future use. I wanted to save each music video as its own file on my computer HD. I also did not want to do any video conversion or compression. I wanted to keep the video as it is.

Sometimes I just set my Panasonic DMR to record 4 hours of videos from MTV or what ever on to a DVD-R. so editing out the music videos only and saving them to my computer HD is what I want to do.

I have used TMPGEnc to make some dvds. I am also willing to purchase and download what ever program you recommend. When it comes to computers, I am very experienced. In my group of friends and family I am the one who knows the most.

    Here are my questions:

    1) what is an easy/good program to use for editing the video stored in the Video_TS folder on my hard drive. I would like to have a program that plays the video and audio and I can select each video and cut/copy it out and save it as its own file. I would like to be able to select the start and end point to cut out by the exact clip. I have seen some programs that will play the video together and some play it showing all clips of the video.

    2) I want to edit out all of the videos and save them in a different folder on my hard drive.

    3) I would like to save each video for future use. I want to name them by the artist and then the video (Nelly – Hot in Here). Will this type of file naming work when authoring dvds?

By doing this, I can grab what ever video’s I want and make them into dvd’s.. Make sense?

Thanks for your time and I hope you don’t mind me emailing you like this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

  2. I am a Newbie but just did the same thing successfully. Get the Afonic Guide to DVD shrink entitled DVD9 to DVD R. It will telll you how to take a VOB and edit it down using re-author and then select start/end and pick out the parts you want. Then you click backup and it will save it. The only thing you need to do is to make alot of folders since DVD shrink will only save to an empty folder. So I made 20 folders labeled them movie 1-20 and evey time I backed up a clip I save into a different folder. I then burned them to a DVD and made separate chapters for each clip and now I can watch only the clips I want instead of the whole originally movie. I also edit of car chase scenes from several movies and made my own DVD of the greatest movie car chases. DVD shrink was perfect and fast for doing it.
