  3. The ATI AIW cards are great at capturing. If you tell us what is giving you trouble maybe we can help you get it working. As mentioned the lordsmurf site is a very good site to checkout. I have a AIW 8500 Radeon card using mmc8.7 with lordsmurfs settings and capture tv directly to mpeg2 with 0 frame drops and vhs tapes from 0 to xxx frame drops depending on the quality of the tape.

  6. Sorry to hear your not using the AIW card any more. If you still have it and want to try it again make sure it connected correctly to your sound card and that the input source is not muted. Also make sure you select the correct audio source when setting up MMC . I use MMC 8.7 to capture mpeg2, MPEG-VCR to edit and TEMPGEnc DVD Author to author and burn my dvds and get great results. I can't help you with Studio 8 because I never had much luck with it.

  7. Question for Hudson, which AIW are you using??? Is it one of the newer ones with a firewire input or the older 7500 which is what I was trying to work with, I may give it another try since you got it to work, maybe I just have to try again....

  8. I'm using the 8500 AIW Radeon Card. I've had it for a while now so I would say it a older model. I have tried other capture cards but I always come back to my AIW card. When I purchased my new computer and switched the video card to my AIW Card that I took out of my old computer and used a older version of MMC, every time I started the TV program the sound was always muted. Since I upgraded to the 8.x versions I don't have that problem any more. The first time I installed my AIW I hooked the sound into the wrong jack on my sound card and it took me a long time before I found the problem. Maybe one of the things I had trouble with is what's causing your sound problem.
