Why do you want to keep it as a VOB ?
Are you going to make a DVD with it ?
If so , TMPGenc DVD Author will import a VOB , allow you to edit it ,
and make the DVD.
DVDShrink will make a new DVD with a selected portion of an old one also. -
ChopperXP will let you cut vobs directly.

I tried Womble MPEG-VCR and while it appears to be a terrific program, I've yet to get it to make a cut without messing up the audio. I *am* using the latest download version and have emailed techsupport with zero reply todate.

This is an illegal video file.
For DVD-Video you can only use the following video formats:
MPEG-1 Video, MPEG-2 Video -
Along this thread, I have worked with TMPGEnc DVD Author in the past. Largely it works, but with two drawbacks. I am wondering if these drawbacks have been fixed, or if there is another known method.
Drawback 1: Any subpicture streams are stripped out. This is not good for editing together elements where a foreign language is subtitled. Does anybody know if the current version keeps subtitles intact, and if so, how to accomplish that?
Drawback 2: If the output VOB files exceed 4.7 GB, they won't recompress in Pinnacle InstantCopy, which I use. I get an error every time with output from TMPGEnc DVD Author. My current workaround on this is to do the math ahead of time and compress before doing the edit. This usually involves setting the values manually, burning to a re-recordable, then re-ripping the disc.
Any help from experts on TMPGEnc DVD Author or similar tools on Drawback 1?
